Earl’s underwriting work gives clients a look under the hood of their benefits plans and insights into carrier calculations. He leverages his underwriting expertise to provide our benefits consultants and account management teams with expert reviews and analysis of carrier rate renewal actions.

For fully insured plans, Earl generates pre-renewal projections. He analyzes the plan and predicts what the increase will be. This gives clients an opportunity to adjust the plan to meet the budget and program goals – and helps avoid shocking renewal increases.

For employers who are – or are considering – self-funding, Earl runs cost estimates so clients can make informed funding and plan design decisions. Self-funding is a significant commitment that requires the guidance of an underwriter. Earl helps employers evaluate the risk and reward.

When he’s not running numbers, he’s likely just running. Earl likes to travel both stateside, having visited 31 states and working on the other 19, and internationally. He hopes to be fluent in Spanish and recently spent the New Year holiday with a running friend in Bogota, Columbia. He also enjoys antique cars and writes for the National Cadillac LaSalle Club magazine.
